Buzzing around after creating a wave

Google Buzz which was just launched is a direct attack on the fast spreading popularity of facebook. While trying to create a wave through the Google wave, earlier I feel Google failed in attracting the layman. It was for one way ahead of its times and most importantly was not fully ready for the masses..

A concept car is best to be shown in those auto shows only.. The daily on road usage of the same may not be as practical unless its not a gradual change towards the concept.. Google Buzz is the gradual change towards the concept..

While trying not to be left behind in the social networking race, Google tried Orkut which failed in most part of the world. It purchased Dodgeball & Zingku (for mobile) which seems to be base for the buzz!

A company which started and swore to be a web company threw some surprises and entered the Mobile handset market with Nexus One, Soon it will have its OS based on the "rapidly becoming popular" browser Chrome which is eating away the Internet Explorer share and also that of Firefox (am pleading guilty too).. Apple & (what was the other one hah!) Microsoft, are you listening..

Google has shown some innovative customer focus and actually listened to the customer while designing every small product in its factory. While competing with giants, it just used the innovative design and some clever marketing to grab not just the focus, but also the customers themselves.

Well, buzz is just one of the small things to play while much bigger toys are still being designed in its workshop..

Infinity Logo

I was pondering on how to build a brand for Infinity and myself.. I was working on the assumption that Infinity was a brand on its own.. However, it didn't have a symbolic element attached to it.. One good start would be a neat decent logo..

TA DA!

The logo was designed with the Initials in my name Sharath Sridhar. It some how had to symbolize the title of my blog and then came the intricate lines!

The colors orange with black denotes energy and focus.. Well today, a new logo is born to brand this 27 year old friend...Cheers!!

I will include this logo in all my work be it here or in flickr or elsewhere.. For those, who still haven't seen my flickr page, click  here.

Let me know how you like it.

Is this the Aussie master plan??

There has been unrest after the recent attacks over Indians in Australia in India. Have the Victorian Police done what's necessary, or just issuing an advice to look poor be sufficient,  Be it racist, be it opportunistic, these attacks have driven the Indian media completely nuts.. There's at least one incident every day followed by discussions with experts, statistics and more blah blah blah...

However its changed the mindset of Indians travelling to Australia for jobs or for studies, I bet it must have reduced the number of Indian tourists visiting Oz land for sure too..

Times of India, reports a 46% drop in Indian students' applications to Australia and BBC predicts a fall in the number of Indian students studying in Australia by about 20% in 2010. Interestingly, Reuters India, reports that Australia would dump 20,000 low-skilled migrant applications to accommodate the growing Chinese resource demand of skilled workers.

This news comes at a crucial time, just when there is a sudden shift in the Indian mindset.. The keyword here really is the "Growing Chinese Resource" I am sure there must be a huge growth in the number of applications the Chinese are making  to universities and for jobs in Australia and not just for mining jobs or LNG projects!

Do these attacks have more insidious reasons than just being opportunistic or racial in nature??

Good 'ew Bengaluru

After a break, I wanted to write about the various changes in here in Bangalore. It certainly isn't the same old 'Garden City' anymore, not even the 'Silicon Hub', it's grown past all these titles.

Some highlights here have been the dust and lots of it, northies lots and lots of them, cars with only its driver in it, Hijdas in signals, Yeddyurappa, "bosudi" language, better roads which cant be savored due to traffic, food joints flocked with people; recession never heard of that here, 15 mobile operators & growing (how could I ever miss this!), real fast bikes, be it with control or none, its driven fast...

Remember what the webbed man's grandpa said once " With great power comes great responsibility!"

Well it just feel that there is a lot of power around bangalore but definitely not in the hands of the responsible..
